Known for its Creole cuisine, rich musical tradition, and nearby swamps and plantations, New Orleans is one of the nation's oldest cities.
Take a break from the city and head to Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve and Fairview-Riverside State Park. Get some historical perspective at French Quarter and St. Louis Cathedral. The adventure continues: get to know the fascinating history of Garden District, brush up on your military savvy at The National WWII Museum, take a stroll through Royal Street, and explore the world behind art at Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden.

Natchez is the county seat and only city of Adams County, Mississippi, United States. On the 27th (Fri), look for all kinds of wild species at Clark Creek Natural Area. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 28th (Sat): look for gifts at Darby's, pause for some serene contemplation at St. Mary Basilica, make a trip to Longwood, then contemplate the long history of Auburn Museum & Historic Home, and finally appreciate the history behind Forks of the Roads Monument.

You can drive from New Orleans to Natchez in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and car; or do a combination of bus and car. Traveling from New Orleans in April, expect slightly colder with lows of 15°C in Natchez. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 29th (Sun) to allow enough time to drive to Memphis.

The largest city on the Mississippi River, Memphis bills itself as both the "Birthplace of Rock" and "Home of the Blues." With such a rich musical heritage, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Elvis Presley chose to live in Memphis during his later years.
On the 30th (Mon), pause for some photo ops at National Civil Rights Museum, then appreciate the extensive heritage of Beale Street, then steep yourself in history at The Peabody Ducks, and finally admire the landmark architecture of The Peabody Memphis. On the 1st (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: steep yourself in history at Sun Studio. and then make a trip to Graceland.

Traveling by car from Natchez to Memphis takes 6 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car, train, taxi, and flight; or do a combination of car and bus. In April, daytime highs in Memphis are 27°C, while nighttime lows are 14°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 2nd (Wed) early enough to travel to Nashville.

Known as the capital of country music, the thriving city of Nashville combines old-world southern charm with a progressive urban flair.
Visiting Burgess Falls and Radnor Lake State Park will get you outdoors. Get a sense of the local culture at Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and RCA Studio B. Get out of town with these interesting Nashville side-trips: Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park (in Eva), Walden Pumpkin Farm (in Smyrna) and Nolensville Feed Mill Inc, Amish Country Market (in Nolensville). There's much more to do: immerse yourself in nature at Burgess Falls State Park, stop by Third Man Records, see the interesting displays at The Johnny Cash Museum & Cafe, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Upper Room.
