Nicknamed the "Emerald City" because of its abundant evergreen trees, Seattle is the cultural and business center of the Pacific Northwest, as well as a popular holiday destination.
Start off your visit on the 8th (Sun): stroll through Alki Beach, explore the activities along Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, then explore the world behind art at Chihuly Garden and Glass, and finally wander the streets of Pike Place Market. Here are some ideas for day two: take in panoramic vistas at Space Needle, see the interesting displays at The Museum of Flight, and then don't miss a visit to Pioneer Square.

In Olympic National Park, ancient rainforests and ocean tidal pools at lower elevations contrast with wildflower-filled alpine meadows and snowcapped peaks.
Visiting Ruby Beach and Second Beach Trail will get you outdoors. Take a break from Olympic National Park with a short trip to Quinault Big Spruce Tree in Quinault, about 1h 15 min away. And it doesn't end there: take a memorable drive along Hurricane Ridge, delve into the lush surroundings at Hoh Rain Forest Visitor Center, contemplate the waterfront views at Crescent Lake, and hike along Sol Duc Falls.

Getting from Seattle to Olympic National Park by flight takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: take a bus. Traveling from Seattle in July, things will get a bit cooler in Olympic National Park: highs are around 24°C and lows about 13°C. Gold Beach is a city in and the county seat of Curry County, Oregon, United States, on the Oregon Coast. Get in touch with nature at Stout Grove and Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint. The capital city of America's most economically significant state, Sacramento is an important stop for any politico.
Start off your visit on the 18th (Wed): admire the striking features of Sutter's Fort State Historic Park, examine the collection at California State Capitol and Museum, then admire the masterpieces at Crocker Art Museum, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.
