Visit 9/11 Memorial and Park Avenue for their historical value. Fifth Avenue and Statue of Liberty National Monument are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Step out of New York City to go to Sandy Hook and see Gateway National Recreation, which is approximately 38 minutes away.
