North Conway combines colonial New England architecture with outlet shops selling goods from some of the world's most recognizable brands, all set amid the scenery of the White Mountains.
Visiting The Basin at Franconia Notch State Park and Flume Gorge will get you outdoors. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Cathedral Ledge and Glen Ellis Falls. There's still lots to do: cruise along Mt Washington Auto Rd and admire the sheer force of Diana's Baths.

Maine's biggest and perhaps most vibrant city, Portland was established as a fishing village in 1633 and grew to become New England's largest port.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Marginal Way Walkway and Cape Neddick Nubble Lighthouse. Maine Maritime Museum and Portland Head Light will appeal to museum buffs. When in Portland, make a side trip to see Ogunquit Beach in Ogunquit, approximately 1h 05 min away. Nantucket is an island 30mi south of Cape Cod, in the American state of Massachusetts. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Sankaty Head Lighthouse and Brant Point Lighthouse.
