Lafayette is a city located along the Vermilion River in southwestern Louisiana. On the 17th (Tue), get to know the fascinating history of Vermilionville, paddle through the water with a kayaking and canoeing tour, and then explore the activities along Lake Martin. Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge is the capital of the U.S. Kick off your visit on the 19th (Thu): see the interesting displays at Louisiana's Old State Capitol, browse the exhibits of LSU Rural Life Museum, then contemplate the long history of Houmas House Plantation and Gardens, and finally steep yourself in history at Laura Plantation: Louisiana's Creole Heritage Site. Known for its Creole cuisine, rich musical tradition, and nearby swamps and plantations, New Orleans is one of the nation's oldest cities.
