The capital of the United States, the District of Columbia contains the lion's share of the country's most treasured monuments, memorials, and public museums.
On the 1st (Thu), stroll through National Zoological Park, then explore the world behind art at National Gallery of Art, and then explore the activities along Tidal Basin. Here are some ideas for day two: take in the spiritual surroundings of Washington National Cathedral, then examine the collection at United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, then see the interesting displays at National Air and Space Museum, and finally steep yourself in history at Georgetown University.

Do a combination of bus and flight from Boston to Washington DC in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and flight; or drive. In February, Washington DC is somewhat warmer than Boston - with highs of 48°F and lows of 32°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Sat) so you can travel to Wilmington.
