One of the country's most popular shopping destinations, Dallas and its sprawling suburbs include more shopping centers per capita than any other urban center in America.
Do your shopping at Sundance Square and JDH Iron Designs. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum and Kimbell Art Museum. Get out of town with these interesting Dallas side-trips: Fossil Rim Wildlife Center (in Glen Rose), Fort Worth (Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District & Fort Worth Botanic Garden) and Waco Mammoth National Monument (in Waco). And it doesn't end there: see the interesting displays at The Sixth Floor Museum/Texas School Book Depository, contemplate the long history of Old Red Museum, and browse the exhibits of Nasher Sculpture Center.

Shreveport to Dallas is an approximately 3-hour car ride. In July, plan for daily highs up to 96°F, and evening lows to 78°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 5th (Thu) early enough to travel to San Antonio.

As the state’s second largest city, San Antonio embodies Texas’ rich cultural heritage while maintaining the Old West charm of an oil town.
Step off the beaten path and head to Admiral Nimitz State Historic Site and Mission Concepcion. Get some cultural insight at The Alamo and Pioneer Museum Complex. Get out of town with these interesting San Antonio side-trips: Texas State Capitol (in Austin), Gruene Historic District (in New Braunfels) and Luckenbach Texas General Store (in Luckenbach). The adventure continues: get some fabulous bargains at San Marcos Premium Outlets, get to know the fascinating history of Mission Trail, take an in-depth tour of Guenther House, and pause for some serene contemplation at San Fernando De Bexar Cathedral.

Traveling by flight from Dallas to San Antonio takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In July, daily temperatures in San Antonio can reach 98°F, while at night they dip to 75°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 10th (Tue) so you can go by car to Houston.

Although urban sprawl remains synonymous with Houston, most of the city's tourist attractions lie within the relatively small downtown area, surrounded by diverse neighborhoods housing the nation's biggest African-American, Asian-American, and Latino communities.
Get some historical perspective at San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site and Bonfire Memorial. Get a sense of the local culture at George Bush Presidential Library and Museum and Houston Museum District. Venture out of the city with trips to Blue Bell Creameries (in Brenham), Nana's Attic (in League City) and Surfside Beach (in Surfside Beach). There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at Space Center Houston, admire all the interesting features of Water Wall, take an in-depth tour of Holocaust Museum Houston, and explore the engaging exhibits at Children's Museum of Houston.

You can drive from San Antonio to Houston in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or fly. Expect a daytime high around 95°F in July, and nighttime lows around 77°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Sat) to allow time to travel back home.
