Nicknamed the "Emerald City" because of its abundant evergreen trees, Seattle is the cultural and business center of the Pacific Northwest, as well as a popular holiday destination.
On the 8th (Wed), shop like a local with Pike Place Market and then take in the waterfront at Hiram M. Chittenden Locks. Here are some ideas for day two: examine the collection at The Museum of Flight, then take in the exciting artwork at Chihuly Garden and Glass, and then learn the secrets of production at Future of Flight Aviation Center & Boeing Tour.

London, UK to Seattle is an approximately 12-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 8 hours traveling from London to Seattle. Expect a bit warmer weather when traveling from London in August: highs in Seattle hover around 30°C, while lows dip to 19°C. The City of Monterey in Monterey County is located on the southern edge of Monterey Bay, on Central California's Pacific coast in California. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Point Lobos State Reserve and Pfeiffer State Beach. Get outdoors at Carmel City Beach/Carmel River Beach and Monterey Bay. Get out of town with these interesting Monterey side-trips: Big Sur (McWay Falls, Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, & more). There's more to do: see majestic marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour and make a trip to San Carlos Cathedral.

Traveling by combination of flight and bus from Seattle to Monterey takes 6.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Seattle in August, things will get slightly colder in Monterey: highs are around 24°C and lows about 15°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 14th (Tue) so you can drive to Yosemite National Park.

Massive granite mountains, towering waterfalls, groves of Giant Sequoia trees, and wilderness as far as the eye can see distinguish the landscape of Yosemite National Park.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Bodie State Historic Park and Tunnel View. Take a break from the city and head to Tuolumne Meadows and Sentinel Dome. And it doesn't end there: cruise along Tioga Pass, tour the pleasant surroundings at Lembert Dome, and trek along Panorama Trail.

Traveling by car from Monterey to Yosemite National Park takes 5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and taxi. When traveling from Monterey in August, plan for somewhat warmer days and slightly colder nights in Yosemite National Park: temperatures range from 32°C by day to 7°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Sat) early enough to drive to San Francisco.

San Francisco is a top holiday destination featuring scenic beauty and great ethnic and cultural diversity.
Get in touch with nature at Alcatraz Island and Muir Woods National Monument. Museum-lovers will get to explore Exploratorium and SS Jeremiah O'Brien. Drive from Yosemite National Park to San Francisco in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and bus; or do a combination of taxi, bus, flight, and subway. When traveling from Yosemite National Park in August, plan for slightly colder days and somewhat warmer nights in San Francisco: temperatures range from 26°C by day to 17°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 21st (Tue) early enough to travel back home.
