A famed resort town since the early 20th century, Santa Monica sits on the picturesque Santa Monica Bay, bordered on three sides by the city of Los Angeles.
Get some historical perspective at El Pueblo de Los Angeles and Venice Canals Walkway. Do your shopping at Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Amoeba Music. There's lots more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Venice Beach and Boardwalk, immerse yourself in nature at Santa Monica Beach, tour the pleasant surroundings at Will Rogers State Beach, and see the interesting displays at Getty Center The Publications.

Getting from San Francisco to Santa Monica by combination of subway, flight, and bus takes about 4 hours. Other options: drive; or do a combination of bus and taxi. In March, daily temperatures in Santa Monica can reach 23°C, while at night they dip to 13°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 5th (Mon) to allow time to drive to San Diego.
