Known internationally as the "Horse Capital of the World," Lexington boasts a thriving economy resting largely on its thoroughbred racehorse industry.
Take a break from the city and head to Kentucky Horse Park and Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Buffalo Trace Distillery and Salato Wildlife Education Center. Change things up with a short trip to Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles (about 36 minutes away). There's more to do: get engrossed in the history at Mary Todd Lincoln House.
