Divided into neighborhoods with distinct characters and cultural heritages, San Diego sits just north of the Mexican border and offers visitors a blend of tourist attractions, including a lively nightlife, diverse cuisine, and a thriving musical scene.
Take a break from San Diego with a short trip to Self-Realization Fellowship Hermitage in Encinitas, about 32 minutes away. Pack the 3rd (Tue) with family-friendly diversions at SeaWorld San Diego. The adventure continues: admire nature's wide array of creatures at San Diego Zoo, tour the pleasant surroundings at Sunset Cliffs, admire the natural beauty at Botanical Building and Lily Pond, and pause for some photo ops at Cabrillo National Monument.

Surrounded by mountain ranges, forests, valleys, beaches, and deserts, the metropolitan area of Los Angeles is home to over 17 million people.
When in Los Angeles, make a side trip to see Disneyland Park in Anaheim, approximately 38 minutes away. Pack the 5th (Thu) with family-friendly diversions at Universal Studios Hollywood. There's much more to do: examine the collection at Getty Center The Publications, take in the waterfront at Santa Monica Pier, look and learn at Griffith Observatory, and explore the different monuments and memorials at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

Traveling by car from San Diego to Los Angeles takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a train. In October, plan for daily highs up to 32°C, and evening lows to 19°C. On the 7th (Sat), you'll have the morning to explore before heading off to Yosemite National Park.

Step out of Yosemite National Park to go to Bear Valley and see Bear Valley Cross Country and Adventure Company, which is approximately 1h 25 min away. There's still lots to do: take in the dramatic natural features at Glacier Point, take in the dramatic scenery at Vernal Fall, see what you can catch with a fishing tour, and explore and take pictures at Tioga Pass.

Traveling by car from Los Angeles to Yosemite National Park takes 7 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight, bus, and taxi; or do a combination of bus and taxi. When traveling from Los Angeles in October, plan for slightly colder days in Yosemite National Park, with highs around 21°C, while nights are much colder with lows around -1°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 12th (Thu) to allow time for the car ride to San Francisco.
