New Orleans

Known for its Creole cuisine, rich musical tradition, and nearby swamps and plantations, New Orleans is one of the nation's oldest cities.
Laura Plantation: Louisiana's Creole Heritage Site and Frenchmen Street are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Escape the urban bustle at Nature & Wildlife Tours and Global Wildlife Center. Venture out of the city with trips to Whitney Plantation (in Edgard), Vacherie (St. Joseph Plantation & Oak Alley Plantation) and Houmas House Plantation and Gardens (in Darrow). Spend the 14th (Tue) exploring nature at Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. Next up on the itinerary: see the interesting displays at The National WWII Museum, take in the spiritual surroundings of St. Louis Cathedral, take a stroll through Magazine Street, and hunt for treasures at French Market.

If you are flying in from Italy, the closest major airports are Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, Gulfport Biloxi International Airport and Baton Rouge Metropolitan, Ryan Field. In November in New Orleans, expect temperatures between 20°C during the day and 19°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 30th (Thu) early enough to travel back home.
