Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Step off the beaten path and head to Spas & Wellness and Guanella Pass. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Denver: Summit Lake Park (in Idaho Springs), Trail Ridge Road (in Rocky Mountain National Park) and Estes Park (Riverwalk in Downtown Estes Park, Images of Rocky Mountain National Park, & more). There's still lots to do: take a memorable drive along Mount Evans Scenic Byway, stroll through Chautauqua Park, admire the natural beauty at Denver Botanic Gardens, and take in the dramatic natural features at Flatirons.

Getting from Aspen to Denver by combination of flight and train takes about 3 hours. Other options: drive; or do a combination of car and bus. Traveling from Aspen in October, things will get a bit warmer in Denver: highs are around 22°C and lows about 5°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 21st (Sun) to allow time for travel back home.
