Carmel-by-the-Sea, often simply referred to as Carmel, is a city in Monterey County, California, United States, founded in 1902 and incorporated on October 31, 1916. Start off your visit on the 16th (Mon): kick back and relax at Carmel City Beach/Carmel River Beach, then enjoy the sand and surf at Point Lobos State Reserve, and then look for gifts at The Cheese Shop.

Family-friendly places like Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park will thrill your kids. Visit Venice Beach and Boardwalk and Santa Monica Beach for some beach relaxation. Step out of Anaheim with an excursion to Guitar Center in Los Angeles--about 58 minutes away.

Getting from Carmel to Anaheim by combination of taxi, flight, and bus takes about 3.5 hours. Other options: drive; or do a combination of bus and train. Prepare for a bit warmer weather when traveling from Carmel in October: high temperatures in Anaheim hover around 33°C and lows are around 19°C. Nicknamed the "Entertainment Capital of the World," Las Vegas sits in the middle of a desert in the southern section of Nevada.
Head to The Strip and The Grand Canal Shoppesfor some retail therapy. Step out of Las Vegas to go to Overton and see Valley of Fire State Park, which is approximately 1h 15 min away. The adventure continues: explore the striking landscape of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, enjoy some diversion at A Wee Kirk o'the Heather, admire the local landmark of Bellagio Fountains, and see the interesting displays at The Mob Museum.
