Get a sense of the local culture at Getty Center The Publications and Griffith Observatory. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Santa Monica Farmers Market and The Grove. Venture out of the city with trips to Hermosa Beach Pier (in Hermosa Beach) and Santa Monica (Montana Avenue & Bergamot Station). Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at The Strip and Las Vegas North Premium Outlets. The Mob Museum and The Neon Museum are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Take a break from Las Vegas with a short trip to Valley of Fire State Park in Overton, about 1h 15 min away. There's lots more to do: admire the natural beauty at Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, admire the local landmark of Bellagio Fountains, take a stroll through Las Vegas Downtown, and take in breathtaking views at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

You can fly from San Francisco to Las Vegas in 3.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or do a combination of train and bus. When traveling from San Francisco in August, plan for much hotter days in Las Vegas, with highs around 45°C, while nights are somewhat warmer with lows around 30°C. On the 10th (Fri), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel to Miami Beach.
