Marfa is a city in the high desert of the Trans-Pecos in far West Texas, located between the Davis Mountains and Big Bend National Park. On the 25th (Tue), admire the landmark architecture of Presidio County Courthouse. On the 26th (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: look for gifts at Davis Mt. Broom Shop, visit a coastal fixture at Fort Davis National Historic Site, and then cruise along Davis Mountain Scenic Loop.

One of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the country, Tucson is a city on a cultural crossroads, with European, Native American, Mexican, and Asian residents blending and sometimes conflicting with one another.
Step off the beaten path and head to Madera Canyon and Kitt Peak National Observatory. Step out of the city life by going to Tumacacori National Historical Park and Funny Foot Farm and Tucson Petting Zoo. There's more to do: admire the striking features of Fox Theater.

Getting from Marfa to Tucson by car takes about 7.5 hours. Other options: fly. The time zone changes from Central Standard Time (CST) to Mountain Standard Time (MST), which is usually a -1 hour difference. Prepare for a bit warmer weather when traveling from Marfa in September: high temperatures in Tucson hover around 92°F and lows are around 69°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 1st (Mon) so you can go by car to Sedona.

Visiting Lava River Cave and Montezuma Well will get you outdoors. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Historic Old Town Cottonwood and Historic Downtown and Railroad District. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Sedona: Prescott (Whiskey Row & Lynx Lake Recreation Area) and Riordan Mansion State Historic Park (in Flagstaff). The adventure continues: trek along Doe Mountain Trail, see the world from above with a helicopter tour, take a memorable drive along Schnebly Hill Vista Overlook, and do a tasting at Javelina Leap Vineyard, Winery & Bistro.

Many residents have shunned fast-paced city living for Taos's laid-back vibe and blend of Spanish, Native American, and Anglo cultures.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Pecos National Historical Park and Enchanted Circle Drive. Escape the urban bustle at River Rafting & Tubing and Taos Ski Valley. Escape the urban bustle at South Bass Island and Island Lake State Recreation Area. Discover out-of-the-way places like Maumee Bay State Park and Main Street Beach. Change things up with these side-trips from Detroit: Lakeview Park (in Lorain), Put in Bay (Heineman Winery & Put-in-Bay Winery) and Elizabeth Park (in Trenton). There's still lots to do: explore the landscape on two wheels at Falling Waters Trail, snap pictures at Blue Water Bridge, ride a horse along Paint Creek Trail, and stop by Horrocks Farm Market.
