Augusta
Augusta–Richmond County is a consolidated city-county in the U.S. Step off the beaten path and head to Callaway Plantation and God's Acre Healing Springs. Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site and Ninety Six National Historic Site will appeal to history buffs. Venture out of the city with trips to Washington (Kettle Creek Battlefield, Washington Historical Museum, & more), Lake Greenwood State Park (in Ninety Six) and Aiken (Aiken State Park, Aiken Golf Club, & more). Spend the 17th (Sun) exploring nature at Congaree National Park. There's much more to do: contemplate the long history of Georgia's Old Governor's Mansion, appreciate the extensive heritage of Riverwalk, admire the majestic nature at Calhoun Falls State Park, and contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Murray.
