Nicknamed the "Emerald City" because of its abundant evergreen trees, Seattle is the cultural and business center of the Pacific Northwest, as well as a popular holiday destination.
Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Pike Place Market and Chukar Cherries. Museum-lovers will appreciate Chihuly Garden and Glass and Glasshouse-Studio. There's still lots to do: examine the collection at The Museum of Flight, take a stroll through Pioneer Square, explore and take pictures at Safeco Field, and pause for some photo ops at Space Needle.

Getting from Los Angeles to Seattle by combination of train and flight takes about 4.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus. Plan for slightly colder temperatures traveling from Los Angeles in August, with highs in Seattle at 30°C and lows at 19°C. On the 10th (Fri), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel to Vancouver.
