Visit Venice Beach and Boardwalk and Santa Monica Beach for some beach relaxation. Get a sense of the local culture at Getty Center The Publications and Montana Avenue. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Los Angeles: Hermosa Beach Pier (in Hermosa Beach), Santa Monica (Santa Monica Farmers Market & Bergamot Station) and Manhattan Beach (in Manhattan Beach). There's lots more to do: look for gifts at Amoeba Music, get a taste of the local shopping with Abbot Kinney Boulevard, buy something for everyone on your list at Third Street Promenade, and immerse yourself in nature at Will Rogers State Beach.

Divided into neighborhoods with distinct characters and cultural heritages, San Diego sits just north of the Mexican border and offers visitors a blend of tourist attractions, including a lively nightlife, diverse cuisine, and a thriving musical scene.
Get a sense of the local culture at USS Midway Museum and Maritime Museum of San Diego. Get outdoors at La Jolla Cove and Mission Beach Park. Go for a jaunt from San Diego to Encinitas to see Moonlight Beach about 50 minutes away. There's still lots to do: get a taste of the local shopping with Gaslamp Quarter, kick back and relax at Coronado Beach, tour the pleasant surroundings at Black's Beach, and trek along Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve.

You can drive from Los Angeles to San Diego in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a train. While traveling from Los Angeles, expect little chillier days and about the same nights in San Diego, ranging from highs of 28°C to lows of 22°C. Carmel-by-the-Sea, often simply referred to as Carmel, is a city in Monterey County, California, United States, founded in 1902 and incorporated on October 31, 1916. Start off your visit on the 7th (Mon): tour the pleasant surroundings at Pfeiffer State Beach and then kick back and relax at Point Lobos State Reserve. Keep things going the next day: stop by The Cheese Shop, kick back and relax at Carmel City Beach/Carmel River Beach, and then admire the majestic nature at Asilomar State Beach.

Getting from San Diego to Carmel by combination of flight and taxi takes about 3 hours. Other options: drive; or do a combination of train and bus. In August, Carmel is slightly colder than San Diego - with highs of 24°C and lows of 15°C. On the 9th (Wed), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Yosemite National Park.

Take a break from the city and head to Taft Point and Tuolumne Meadows. Spend the 15th (Tue) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Next up on the itinerary: explore the striking landscape at Glacier Point, trek along Nevada Falls Loop, stroll through Panorama Trail, and contemplate the waterfront views at Tenaya Lake.

Traveling by car from Carmel to Yosemite National Park takes 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and taxi. Traveling from Carmel in August, expect nights in Yosemite National Park to be a bit cooler, around 7°C, while days are a bit warmer, around 32°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 18th (Fri) to allow time for the car ride to Oakville.
