Steeped in cultural and historical heritage, Philadelphia is known as the birthplace of U.S.
Start off your visit on the 9th (Mon): take an in-depth tour of Eastern State Penitentiary, explore the world behind art at Rodin Museum, then get engrossed in the history at National Constitution Center, and finally take an in-depth tour of Independence Hall.

New York City to Philadelphia is an approximately 2-hour train ride. You can also drive; or take a bus. In July in Philadelphia, expect temperatures between 89°F during the day and 72°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 10th (Tue) to allow time to take a train to Lancaster.

The heart of Pennsylvania's famous "Dutch Country," Lancaster is one of the nation's oldest inland cities, founded in 1730.
Kick off your visit on the 10th (Tue): wander the streets of Amish Country, then examine the collection at Choo Choo Barn, then get engrossed in the history at Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, and finally take an in-depth tour of The Amish Village.

Take a train from Philadelphia to Lancaster in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. Traveling from Philadelphia in July, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit cooler in Lancaster, with lows of 67°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 11th (Wed) so you can drive to Gettysburg.

Located near the memorial park marking the site of one of the largest Civil War battles, the town of Gettysburg sits in a landscape of rolling green hills with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance.
Kick off your visit on the 11th (Wed): get engrossed in the history at Shriver House Museum, then contemplate the long history of Eisenhower National Historic Site, then get engrossed in the history at Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center, and finally tour the pleasant surroundings at Gettysburg National Military Park. On the 12th (Thu), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: learn about winemaking at Adams County Winery, take an in-depth tour of Gettysburg Seminary Ridge Museum, then examine the collection at Gettysburg Diorama, and finally witness the site of a historic battle at Association of Licensed Battlefield Guides.

Traveling by car from Lancaster to Gettysburg takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and bus. In July in Gettysburg, expect temperatures between 86°F during the day and 66°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 12th (Thu) to allow time to drive back home.
