Fort Sill is a United States Army post in Lawton, Oklahoma, about 85 miles southwest of Oklahoma City.Today, Fort Sill remains the only active Army installation of all the forts on the Southern Plains built during the Indian Wars. Bring the kids along to Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge and Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History. Get out of town with these interesting Fort Sill side-trips: Chickasaw Cultural Center (in Sulphur), Norman (Oklahoma Memorial Stadium & Riverwind Casino) and Turner Falls Park (in Davis). There's lots more to do: try your luck at WinStar World Casino and Resort, learn about all things military at U.S. Army Artillery Museum, don't miss a visit to The Holy City, and identify plant and animal life at River Bend Nature Center.

For where to stay, ratings, other places to visit, and more tourist information, read Fort Sill trip planner .

November in Fort Sill sees daily highs of 64°F and lows of 39°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 3rd (Sun) early enough to travel back home.
