  • Beautiful grounds, informative guides in period dress. The house has been beautifully restored to it's original (or close to) state. The owner lives on site and even allows tours of his room. There is a full service restaurant to enjoy as well as a gift shop with interesting finds. My only negative is the lack of historical information regarding slavery. It was really not even mentioned. I think for a plantation hearing about the slaves and their lives is kind of relevant. If this was added it would be 5 stars.
  • Aesthetically speaking this house is incredible and the entire territory around the main structure and Japanese garden are an incredible manifestation of nature and human planning intertwined. The tour of the house is great if this is your first time touring, but lackluster if you have done southern tours before. I didn't like how little our tour guide touched on the lives of the slaves and expected a bit more, but overall I would definitely recommend to see this house for its beauty both inside and out.
  • Take a walk back in history when you visit this sugar palace. See the difference between creole architecture and American architecture. It has a 5 star gift shop filled with fabulous buys. The gift shop has historical painting, chandeliers and a fantastic book collection on everything from bridal instructions to civil war generals to architecture! It is a true fantasy land for people who want to learn more. All I wanted to do is buy, buy, buy! This is a beautiful back round for any event with beautiful restaurants with good sampling of local food and a great hall that is beyond elegant. Don't forget to find the pagoda with a highly chandelier.
  • A worthwhile drive while visiting New Orleans. Beautiful house, grounds, and gardens (although it rained there day we were there). Great restaurant with very attentive service. Small cocktail bar with a knowledgeable bartender. The tour and guide were both enjoyable as well.
  • This place is gorgeous and very historical to the South and especially Louisiana. The guide there was very friendly and knowledgeable of Southern history as well as the property. There are lots of interesting items in the house including, but not limited to, a real Vampire slaying kit. There is also a statue of Abraham Lincoln that is made of over 60 lbs of Sterling Silver. The restaurant on the grounds is good but a little pricey. The gift shop is also very good but pricey. The history book for the property is huge and beautiful but it also costs $92 just be aware of these things.
