Denver Botanic Gardens, Denver

4.8
Experience the varied ecosystems of Colorado at Denver Botanic Gardens, an oasis in the center of the Mile High City and one of the first botanical gardens in the United States to focus on native plants. The 9.7 hectare (23 acre) park is home to seven different gardens and boasts the largest collection of plants in North America from cold temperature areas across the globe. With visiting exhibits, a sunken amphitheater for concerts, and two additional satellite locations, at Chatfield and Mount Goliath, there is always a new reason to visit these historical gardens. • An art and garden lover's dream! Love this place! Thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour of the Alexander Calder exhibit! Calder was a traveling exhibit but there is always something going on that’s special and it’s also fun to just go and walk around or have a picnic. Concerts are great and so are the plant sales in the spring and fall. Great deals on great plants grown right there at the Gardens!
  • It was busy when I visited but this place is so big and beautiful I hardly noticed. It doesn't seem like you are in a city, it's definitely an escape. The gardens were extremely well maintained and full of a variety of healthy flora. The indoor areas were tidy and had a lot of interesting life in them. A lot of art throughout that blended nicely with the landscape. I could have watched the birds on the pond all day long. There was some live music playing when we visited, which ordinarily might bother me while I'm trying to absorb my surroundings but it really heightened the experience in the garden center. Many informative plaques around the gardens. Kudos to those who run these gardens because the love for their art is visible. I cannot wait to go back here.
  • Visited on Christmas eve and everything outdoors was covered in snow. It was still lovely to walk over the powdery paths and enjoy the white all around. The tropical garden was the best as the greenhouse transformed us into a different continent where it was warm and tropical with colorful flowers, trees and even ducks. Sadly though, some of the gardens were closed for the season. I am certain this would have been a clear 5 stars if we had visited in any other season or managed to see this in the evening under lights (tickets were sold out for that).
  • We went to ghost in the gardens tour for Halloween. It was a fun time...didn't see any ghost =( but had an awesome guide. Johnathon was so enthusiastic and shared his knowledge of the gardens through stories he even semi-acted out the prior encounters=) the tour was at night so what I got to see was limited but still beautiful. The paths are extra wide and easily navigated. I saw several benches and photo opportunities and all the staff I encountered are great. Jonathon's knowledge and all the great vstories definitely have me planning another trip in the spring. Hopefully after the daytime visit I can edit my review to 5 stars.
  • Parking: Free Admission: low and very reasonable many options to enjoy this piece of heave for free on special days such as major holidays Senior citizens, members of US military, Bank of America customers get in for free plus locals get admission discounts and GREAT rate for an annual pass and that is no brainier for local residents. I would definitely recommend the annual pass (Well worth it). Super clean and well designed. very well equipped with facilities restaurants and seating table and benches. not too commercialized, crowded and overpriced such as other tourist attractions in California. a must-see for anyone visiting Denver. please allow yourself plenty of time like minimum 4 to 6 hours so you can truly enjoy this place take your book or e-reader find yourself a perfect spot and just unwind relax and connect to nature at its best.
