As written everywhere, in the summer, it is more difficult to see the animals except birds. About birds, attention to vultures, if present, protect your car with the tarps available. The road is nice, not very long, very well-appointed, seems OK for a wheelchair or a stroller. We saw an alligator by searching carefully (look under the trees in the mangroves). This is not the festival announced in winters, but still interesting. No mosquito in sunlight when we were there, the shadow regularly to refresh.

Great boardwalk over the swamp and found 2 gators for viewing. Unfortunately the welcome center was looking a bit run down, and there was really nothing for snacking on. Would be great if one of the r...  more »

This was a nice everglades experience and the trail is easy to walk and super accessible. We went around 2pm and only saw a little bit of one alligator hiding in the shade. It was super hot and we were disappointed since we really wanted to see them. In an effort to try to experience more of the everglades we then went on Gumbo Limbo trail since it's right there (huge mistake in the summer - we started walking this trail and when our layers of bug spray still failed us we ran the rest of it! If you reeeeeally want to walk that trail when it's buggy just go in 10 feet and then go back out and that will be enough). Anyway, after this we went further down to the Flamingo Marina and Visitor Center even though it was closed and explored a very little there (where we encountered endless and abundant mosquitos. I had 89 bug bites by the end of the day). On our way back we decided to walk Anhinga Trail again since it was about 6 now and we thought the alligators might be out and about more with it being a little cooler. And sure enough we saw 5 alligators and we're glad we came back! It was also much more pleasant to experience with the sun low in the sky (although the visitor center was no longer open so if that's something you want don't wait until the end of the day).

Great introduction into the Everglades. There were lots of trails with plenty of seating along the way. Anhinga trail is a perfect spot for young children, older people and everyone in between. Bathrooms and vending machines are nearby for people that forgot the snacks at home.

Grab a good flashlight and walk the boardwalk at night, when no admission is required to get into the park. The gators are extremely active at night and it's an experience you won't forget. Bring bug spray!

Might be the best trial in the park, beautiful and quite, has a lot of wild animals. And closest to the entrance.

Great trail for the whole family. Stroller friendly and not many bugs during winter months. We saw over 30 alligators along the trail with 27 of those being concentrated in one spot. Easy walk and even though there were lots of people there it didn't feel crowded.
