  • My husband and I walked the 0.87 mile to the Log Cabin Village from Sherley Hall at TCU. Being from Virginia, we've seen a lot of historical structures, and we thought this rated up there with any of ...  more »

  • Very interesting, well preserved and educational. We brought our 3 year old grandson along, who had a blast! Nice area to walk through, the trail is paved so easy walking for all ages and abilities. There's a candlemaker, blacksmith and an area for kids to pump water, collect pretend eggs and dig for pretend root veggies in a small sawdust garden. It looks like there's also a carpenter, but no one was hosting the area when we were there. If you want to know what life was like in the mid to late 1800s, you will enjoy this. It's amazing to think of families of 10 living in a home approximately the size of a 2 car garage. You should go and see for yourself.
  • After a great visit at Christmas, we went back this weekend for my daughter's birthday. We had a picnic in the adjoining park, then went into the Village. The women at the admissions register were thrilled to see my daughter in her self-made pioneer costume. They came around to take a photo with her. The kids in our group loved looking around, dipping candles, and learning from the staff and volunteers.
  • Very fun and informative. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. My son had a blast trying out candle making. The scenery was pretty and the grounds were very well kept. Make sure you don't go at the same time as field trips though or you may have to wait to see everything but even if you do, the staff will help you go around them so they won't be in the way.
  • This place is awesome for all ages. I've visited it for the past 40 years. It's changes and people are always great. I've bought many hand forged items from the real working blacksmith shop. Sampled lots of great food during their cookouts. Participated in making unique period crafs. It's a four season visit.
  • We thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent here. Real people showing you how things were done in the 1800’s in Texas. Very well set up..
