  • You probably didn't come to Harpers Ferry to go to a candy store - but maybe you should have! True Treats is more than a shop, it's a primer on the history of sweets and treats from antiquity to the present. The chronological organization makes it easy to learn a thing or two while you're browsing for something tasty, and the owner is knowledgeable and enthusiastic on the subject of sweets. Well worth a stop, even a trip. Try the Clove Bullets.
  • Wow. They really have the candy I haven't seen since my childhood (and candy from much earlier eras, too.) I am going to try the chocolate covered ants soon.
  • While staying in Harper's Ferry last year(2016), I stopped here twice and spent around $60 for three plastic grocery bags full off historic candy! You'll find almost anything candy from various eras. I thoroughly enjoyed reading historic facts about each candy on the candy labels. In addition to candy, they also sell items such as marshmellow root. There is also vintage memorabilia objects and books for sale that the owner has written about historic candy. It's a must stop if you enjoy anything about candy, history, or are just looking for a neat gift.
  • Very cool! But,, very pricy!
  • The owner is very knowledagable and passionate about her business. The product and experience is a must. Great candies from many historical US eras. The ant candy is weird, kids loved it.
