  • Captain Mike and Jacob took great care of me, my 5 years old and 8 years old. We all had a great time on this boat tour. We saw many spinner dolphins, they were swimming next to us the whole time and leaping out of the water (spinning)! The addition snorkel site was also amazing; super clear and clam water and lots fishes swimming in the coral reef. The boat itself was the largest we can book that have the swim with dolphin experience. There was plenty of snacks, drinks and a lunch to keep the kids happy. This tour has everything we need and I am sure my kids will remember this trip for a long time.
  • Captain Simon (charming, hilarious & experienced) and Leon (friendly, knowledgeable & precise) were simply awesome!! They have been professionally yet amusingly sharing the rules on-board the Hang Loose, history of manta rays, do and don’t when in the water, etc. Meanwhile making sure everyone is comfortable and having fun!! Good sunset views at the beginning of the trip toward snorkeling site. After the sunset, got into the water; was able to see some manta rays feeding under the blue light illuminated water in very close proximity. A spectacular experience!! Seating was comfortable on the boat. Good variety of drinks and snacks were provided. Wetsuit top, snorkel mask and safety jacket were included in the tour. Highly recommend the Manta Ray Night Snorkel and Hang Loose boat tours!!
  • We had an exceptionally amazing Manta Ray snorkeling experience with Hang Loose boat tours. It was a first time Manta Ray snorkeling for me and my husband and Capt Simon and Jacob made sure we had a great experience. They answered all our questions before and during the tour and ensured we were safe, comfortable and that we enjoyed it to the best. We first went snorkeling in the North(decision made by the Capt. based on previous day spotting of Manta Rays) but we could not see any Manta Rays in the area, so instead of going back home disheartened we actually headed south(again Captain’s decision) hoping that we could spot some Mantas there and we actually did see them up close, and it was out of the world. Since we had not seen any Mantas in the North the company would have extended a courtesy tour offer the next day or later but for a lot of us on the boat that day it was our one chance at Manta Rays as we were leaving the town next day. The decision to take us South was a great gesture by the captain who made efforts to ensure that we went home happy. Also I would like to mention Jacob again who was an excellent crew member and a vivid enthusiastic individual who helped us have this out of the world experience despite my limited swimming capabilities.
  • Captain Simon and his crew provided us with an awesome and fun experience both for the manta snorkel and whale watching tours. We especially liked the warm welcome and Aloha spirit of the whole crew. The boat itself is comfortable, but fast, making for a fun ride. Captain Simon also seems to be a bit more clever than some other tour guides, in that he doesn't send his customers into the water until there are actually Mantas around. We saw quite a few other tours which apparently had to follow a strict schedule and put everyone into the water, Mantas or not (in that case, not). Which resulted in them freezing their butts off needlessly, while we stayed dry and could do a high speed run for the other Manta spot, where we actually found quite a few (big ones!) Seeing these magnificent creatures at touching distance (but don't touch them) is quite a sight to behold and something I would recommend to everyone visiting Big Island. With the whale watching, we didn't get as close to the whales as we would have dreamed, but this is nature and you can't plan for that. Still, we got to see quite a few humpbacks, including a mother and its calf. Not as close as the Mantas, but we could still hear them breathe! So, definitely do the Manta snorkel, and think about doing the whale watch while visiting Big Island. And definitely do it with Captain Simon, Jakob and his friendly crew.
  • Simon and Jacob were wonderful crew. They made sure we were all safe. They pointed out many sea life and even some landscape history. Didn’t feel rushed at all. Had a great time! Definitely would do this again!!
