Absolutely beautiful! It was pretty crowded but despite that the Christmas light displays were gorgeous! The indoor displays absolutely amazing! The special Apple, cranberry, and walnut display was spectacular, such a cool cool thing I've never seen before. Everything very conveniently labeled so for a flower nerd like me it was great! I'd like to go back during the day next time to be able to see everything outside, probably in the summer time to be able to see the contrast to the winter display. I highly recommend it though! The cafeteria, while a little pricey, was absolutely worth the price as everything was so delicious! I loved the succulent Christmas tree and the succulent wreath!
We went here to view their Christmas show. The space is very well-managed, especially the parking area. We found a spot in an outer lot, and the buses ran quickly and the drivers were pleasant. When we got to the main gardens area, there was lots to see and it was beautifully laid out. There were families, and single people, and teens, and senior citizens. We really loved how everything was displayed, and there was so much to see, that we don't think we got it all within 2 hours. We will definitely be back to see the Christmas lights next year!
Really enjoyed "A Longwood Christmas" event with family this year. The Conservatory is transformed by inspiration from France's Versailles with topiaries, wreathes and more than 50 decorated trees. There's a intricate mosaic display of 1000's of floating cranberries, apples and gilded walnuts. We arrived a little before 10:00 am on Christmas day and nearly got front row parking. There was still hardly anyone there when we arrived and it was easy to move around in the Conservatory and take pictures. You still need to dress for the weather as there is a short walk between the main registration offices and the Conservatory. Once in the Conservatory its cool enough that you won't feel too warm keeping your winter coat on. Take a trip to the Green Wall where the bathrooms are located in the Conservatory. These might be the nicest restrooms you've ever enjoyed in a public space. They have individual rooms, family rooms and mothers rooms all extremely clean and spacious. A short walk from the Conservatory is the outdoor 400 foot train display made of all natural materials. Grab a light meal in the Cafe to relax before heading out into the grounds again.
Been coming here since I was a kid. My parents had their honeymoon here in 1980. Very historic for me personally as well as a very historic place in general. They have amazing people that work here and many volunteers that keep it alive all year long, year after year. And it only keeps getting better. Mr. DuPont would be very proud if he could still be here.
My family an I visited the Longwood Gardens early in December and were delighted. The creativity and the scale of the indoor and outdoor Xmas decorations is staggering. Each is done in a refined artistic style, but blends well with the rest. It is a true display of elegant art, culture and fantasy. Our last Visit in the summer was equally delightful. Longwood gardens is a must see for anyone who lives or travels to the Delaware Valley throughout the season.
