The living history museum offers hourly tours, performances, and interactive activities at each of its seven separate villages that represent different Polynesian cultures. Take a leisurely canoe tour of the lagoon and surrounding villages, or attend an award-winning Ali'i Luau to experience traditional Hawaiian food and a fire show. Don’t miss the Hā--Breath of Life show to see more than 100 people perform the Samoan fire-knife dance. Catch a bus to the center to avoid the steep parking fees. • This was a nice experience! Like others suggest, I recommend getting there early, not long after it opens at noon. There's free parking at the centre. We got general admission + buffet dinner + show tickets, and did not get a guided tour. Personally I don't think you need a guided tour - just use the map to see which islands are doing presentations at what time, and explore around that way. We really enjoyed the presentations that each island had to offer - they last around half an hour and are filled with music and dance. Make sure to catch the canoe show at 2:30, and keep in mind that people start looking for good seats at 2. There are vendors selling fresh drinks and coconuts around the centre, so bring cash if you want to purchase some! There's also a marketplace at the entrance of the centre, with souvenirs, restaurants and food vendors. The last island presentations end at 5:30, so you can get dinner after that (our buffet dinner was actually not bad, although it was definitely not vegetarian friendly). The show starts at 7:30. Our seats were way off to the side so we didn't have a good view. The show was alright, although it ended with some impressive fire dancing. Also, your tickets are still valid for 3 days after you purchase them, in case you want to return! All in all, it was very interesting to learn about the different Polynesian islands, and I recommend going! This is a good place to bring your family and young kids.
  • Certainly a worth while visit. As a tourist, it certainly feeds into the Hawaii life style that everyone wants to see and be part of. The show at the end of the night was worth keeping the kids up until 9pm. Very eye appealing play with very talented performers. loved it! The only reason I took 1 star off is because I wanted a hot dog at Poi Boys Hot Dogs and the kid was sleeping. I woke him up, he was nice enough to make it. However once he was done with my wife and I, he proceeded to put up a gone for 15 min just to play on his phone.
  • Love this center. We took non guide tickets for the family and made visit to every village except one. Plan your visit to arrive there at 11:30, since they open gates at 11:45 and first canoe boat starts at 12:00. So you can make your all the way back and visit all villages. Most impressive was Samoa and Tonga, we laughed so hard. The night show is really impressive and there is a reason they don't allow to capture it, you must see it.
  • WOW! This place is an experience! The food was awesome, the staff are all very friendly and accommodating and the performances are really awesome. I read some bad reviews stating its all over played and commercialized but I got to appreciate many different cultures and felt respected doing it. It is a little on the expensive side but if you have 1/2-3/4 of a day I would really recommend it. And the show breath of life was amazing.
  • One place to enjoy multiple Polynesian cultures. Nice luau with show (students of BYU, Hawaii). At 2:30 pm there was a Canoe show where each boat brought people from a different island show casing their dance or culture. The Ha (Breath of life) show was interesting supported by a large cast. Enjoyed the day at Polynesian Cultural center. We had taken the tour bus option that took care of transporting us to and from the center. Book 10 days in advance to get 10% off.
