The Neon Museum, Las Vegas

4.4
Las Vegas is the world capital of neon art, and The Neon Museum is there to preserve and display some of it. The museum refurbishes old and discarded neon signs and tells the history of the city through them. Some of the restored signs are displayed in various locations in downtown Las Vegas, but most are located in the museum’s outdoor exhibition area, known as the Boneyard. Here you can take a tour of iconic signs, such as the signs for Caesar's Palace and Stardust casinos. All the tours are guided and should be booked in advance. Bad weather could cause tours to be canceled. Be careful of rusty metal and broken glass in the Boneyard area. • Great museum of the old Las Vegas signage neon signs and it's history. Our tour guy was awesome, friendly, funny, and very informative. The area is not huge but surprisingly they have fit a lot. I highly recommend it. Book ahead as time slots fill fast. Next time we'll do the Brilliant tour.
  • This is great place to visit for a little family adventure and some Vegas history! First thing to know is there are two ways to experience this place. There is an hour long guided tour of all of the restored Las Vegas signs of old. For this, I recommend booking tickets at least a day or two in advance. We didn't think to do this and the tickets were sold out. Unfortunately we weren't able to take the tour. However, the gal I spoke to on the phone suggested their Brilliant experience (the second way to experience this place). This is a 40 minute projection show that uses signs that have not yet been restored. It turned out these we're available, so we jumped on it, and we didn't regret it! You're taken back in time with projection videos and a lght show that I thought was spectacular for the price and the time! After the show we were also given time to take photos with the various signs. In the end, we quite enjoyed the show and plan to come back for the tour we missed. If you enjoy museums, this is definitely one to visit, whether you are a local or a visitor!
  • What a unique museum! As a first time visitor to Las Vegas, my impression of the city was that of some kind of made up, manufactured place. We took a tour here, and our tour guide showed us all of the old neon signs in their collection. What was so impressive was the story and history behind each sign. I began to formulate an image of my mind of the Vegas experienced by my parent's generation, and their parent's generation. Our guide helped make the city seem a little more human to me.
  • What a great place to peek into the recent past of last Vegas. Stories told by the signage once used by the landmarks that made Vegas famous!! Through the guided tour of this museum you will see a great many signs and learn a little of their past wether it was good or bad. My wife and I had a great time and will definitely be returning. Also make sure to check out the "Brilliant" show. It was amazing!!!!! Modern technology lights up the signage and let's you glimpse what they looked like in all their glory.
  • Spoiler Alert : The answer to the "Sign's Age" question is 38... I nailed it on the fly and won nothing which was disappointing since I was in Vegas after all... here, in Google, I extract my revenge. . . great place tho. Tour guide was awesome. Very informative.
