The Original Farmers Market, Los Angeles

4.4
Over 100 vendors sell a wide variety of cuisines from around the world at The Original Farmers Market. What's now an outdoor market started as a place for a few local farmers to sell their produce from their trucks during the Depression. The farmers' market quickly transformed into the massive permanent outdoor market that still stands in the same place. While there are no longer any actual farmers selling produce, the market has retained the original feel by prohibiting big chains, and keeping vendors local. • You can find so much hot nesso, which if you're not careful, you can lose your tour bus. There you'll find cafeterias with Fast Food and also places to buy fresh food and bring it to your House or hotel.

  • It was one of the places I love the most of the whole trip. Difficult is choosing what and where to eat. If you are Miss, got a great brazilian Steakhouse (the Pampas Grill) in the plate by weight, very hot. Many sweets, sandwiches, seafood, coffee, fruit ... love it! It's next to a beautiful Mall, The Grove. We spent a very nice time there.

  • I liked it very much, but unfortunately we had to leave, so I couldn’t enjoy it enough. There is a great choice of different types of food to choose from. There are also shops to buy objects for cooki...  more »

  • The best place to find yourself some fresh fruit. Because the stalls are next to each other, you can easily compare the prices and quality between them. People are very friendly and will help you when you need it. The prices are really affordable for the quality they are giving. Worth the visit.
  • This is a great place and has historical importance in Southern California. An interesting setting with many people from unique backgrounds make it an exceptional place. It has quite a number of foods available for any occasion whether you're a lover of pastries, American classics, ethnic/world cuisines, or a vegan/vegetarian. For a family gathering or embraking upon a first impression during a date it's a wonderful spot. Occasionally there's live music and traffic whether it's via car or public transit, it's still worthwhile. Although it gets crowded during the weekends, it's relatively empty throughout the week and there's plenty of seating available upstairs.
  • I had no been in decades, but I was not disappointed. My kids and I had a great time. Parking (with validation) was free and easy. Public restrooms are clean and easy to find. And the food! So many great vendors. You could make an entire day out of your visit. I still love this place.
  • Love that this is Los Angeles landmark is still going strong! No awful remodeled feel, with amazing booths selling their decades old recipes - if they weren't good they wouldn't still be there! So if you have a group and no one can agree on where to go, go here! So many choices and all good!
  • Another must visit destination in LA. Dozens of food vendors and confectionery stalls. A little bit of everything. Wished we could have visited multiple times to try different places. We settled on Monsieur Marcel and it was good. They have a shop as well. Also get some toffee from Little John's. Like the lady in the info office said, "It'll curl your toes it's so good." It's easy to see why this place is considered an institution. The Grove, an upscale shopping mall is just next door. Parking may be a bit of a challenge during peak times and the traffic around the entrance was a little on the crazy side. (We ended up parking on side street a couple of blocks away). Also it can get a little crowded navigating from stall to stall once inside as it can get a bit narrow in places Grabbing a table may involve a little anxiety too during peak hours (we got there around 1:30 PM on a Sunday). It's definitely worth it though.
