Zoo Miami, Miami

4.3
#1 of 16 in Parks in Miami
Florida’s oldest zoological garden, Zoo Miami is home to over 2,000 animals across more than 100 exhibits. An air-conditioned monorail takes a loop around the zoo and is a comfortable and convenient way to get around the site, providing an aerial view of some exhibits. There are four main areas of the zoo: Asia, Africa, Amazon and beyond, and Australia. Those who want to experience animals up close can brush an Indian rhinoceros or feed a giraffe for an additional fee. For more information about the zoo and its animals, take a narrated tram ride or guided tour. For Zoo Miami and beyond, use our Miami road trip planning site to get the most from your Miami vacation.

  • We liked the zoo. Lots of animals we did not see before. Some areas feel like you are in a jungle or rainforest - very well done. Other sections have animals spaced apart so when you walk you see an a...  more »
  • Tickets took the package on the site Go Miami Card with 20% discount, it came out on $19.63 adult. We traveled by car, arrived around 12 days. Parking on a weekday (Tuesday) was virtually empty, the people in the Park was a bit. Moved through the Park on foot, before closing time (5:00 pm) bypass all, last sector avoided almost jogging. Gift shop closes at 5 pm, so if you want to succeed, go early. Great Zoo, many animals, spacious aviaries. There are enclosed areas a couple of times to wait out the rain. On the territory of many toilets, drinking fountains, benches. Quite comfortable and green areas, squirrels, there are peacocks and IBIS (white bird). Also on the territory of the monorail train rides, worth in the region of $4, it has 5 stops in different sectors of the Park, but we did not use them. Entertainment in the Park:-Looked a little shows in the amphitheatre (show schedule is on the website and on signs in the Park). Animals a little, show lasts 15 minutes. Very nice talking parrot. -Feeding giraffes do not have time: finish promptly at 4, us 4:03 are no longer allowed, had to watch from the side. -Feeding parrots break too could not-all the time too many people inside, running only a certain amount. Ate together with ibisami, which is hosted in the Café: beat flew to tables and stole fries. Two sandwiches and two drinks cost us about $30. All in all a great zoo with the children, it is better to take a great bike that does not get tired to walk.

  • Great family experience. I would recommend this Zoo to anyone I know because of how nice it is all throughout. They have a lot of cool attractions and my daughter was really happy to see her favorite animals. There are places where you can grab a bite to eat inside the zoo and it’s not that bad. Obviously it’s kind of expensive but it’s what you would expect so I wouldn’t say that warrants a bad review. I really like this place.
  • Really improved entrance way. The bikes are an issue they need to make a lane for them. We ate tacos which were very nice. Bottled water 3.50!!! Machine took my money and didn't dispense. Fun day out. Lots of walking avoid hot days
  • Beautiful zoo. You need to rent bikes because the zoo is quite big. So if you wish to visit all the exhibits, then renting a bike is a good idea. Will save some time and will save some pain. However, renting a two person bike costs about $25. There are 4 person bikes as well that cost a bit more. There are plenty of herd animals like gazelles, oryx, ibis, etc. However, the major attractions like lions, tiger, gorilla are only a few. And it pretty much depends on your luck if you are able to see them, as the exhibits are spacious yet they only hold one or two animals in each. Overall, the visit to the zoo was fun because of the bike ride and beautiful scenery, but the animals I wanted to see, decided it was a good time to take a nap or hide behind trees.
  • Zoo Miami is a fun place to play with the family for the day. There are multiple ways to get around including bike rentals and tram. There are cooling stations and misting fans along the way. We love the tigers, elephants and feeding the giraffes. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. We ate at the Oasis Cafe. The burgers are actually good and there are healthy options like salads. Throughout the park, the trees are labeled. It is fun to learn not only about the animals, but the names of the tropical foliage. The new flamingo pool is much nicer and it looks like a new restaurant featuring local food is under construction. There is also a nice gift shop with hand-crafted merchandise that would make great gifts. We hope you will enjoy your visit as much as we did!
  • lovely place, miles and miles to walk and see a menagerie of wonderful specimens well cared for. All open air with a few underground and enclosed spaces. A great location with ample educational potential, certainly a must visit for those inclined about flora and fauna. And for those of the ornithological persuasion, well the aviary hosts a variety of gorgeous specimens.
