Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens, Naples

4.1
#2 of 7 in Zoos & Aquariums in Southwest Gulf Coast
Once a private garden for botanist Dr. Henry Nehrling, Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens opened as a zoo in 1969. Most of the original garden plan remains, and the zoo's pathways meander through thick Caribbean foliage. The main pathway is about 1.6 km (1 mi) with exhibits lining either side. Consider purchasing a ticket for the primate cruise on the man-made lake in the center of the park. The zoo's primate inhabitants populate the islands in the middle of the lake, and a ride on the catamaran is the only way to view them. Alligator Bay is home to the American alligator species. Check presentation times at the reception area to see the beasts during their feeding time. • A perfect place to take the kids. It's not very big but it is very nice. It is not to be all day. Close to the Centre

  • The layout of the Naples Zoo is aesthetically pleasing and the assortment and care of animals on display is impressive. Noteworthy is the resident one-eyed Florida panther, named Uno. He is well cared...  more »

  • Great zoo! Small, but big enough to keep us busy for 3 hours. Perfect for families with small children. We loved feeding the giraffes and taking the primate cruise. Staff were really knowledgeable and made themselves accessible to answer all my daughter's questions about the animals. We had a wonderful afternoon!
  • Great small zoo! They maximize their space very well with different animals, interesting plants and well placed food shops. As a teacher, I was impressed by the engaging signage. Their educational outreach person knows their stuff! We visited in April and I especially enjoyed the signs comparing and contrasting different permanent animals from the visiting penguins. Oh... AND I FED A GIRAFFE!!! Be sure to take the primate cruise as well!!
  • Place was really great! clean, friendly staff, and very cool animals. Just like any zoo though the snacks were pretty pricey. So if your not looking to spend too much you should bring your own snacks but I highly recommend you try the frozen banana!
  • This place was wonderful. All the animals looked happy and healthy even after the hurricanes we had this past year, their enclosures were nice. It is a small place, but full of beauty!!! Also, the camel rides were a super extra! First time on a camel and my husband and I were thrilled!!!
  • Love to come back here every once in a while to see how all the animals are doing. I love that it's a nonprofit and is really about the wildlife and plant life that exist there. Never seen a worker who looked like they didn't want to be there. Happy to see that Uno the panther has a new buddy Athena to keep him company!
