  • I absolutely loved This! There is so much to learn here. This was a very well managed establishment, very clean as well. So many photo opportunities as well. I was a little disappointed that I could not take photos inside the house but I can understand why. It was so interesting to see how a wealthy, well to do person lived their life back during this time period. The house is so magnificent and no bathrooms! My kids emitted it as well. If you work up an appetite during your tour there is a great cafe next to the reality nice gift shop!
  • Went on Andrew Jackson's birthday, so the line to get in was abnormally long we were told. Other than that though the museum and tour are first rate. Guides know their facts and the self guided tour is filled with facts. Andrew Jackson the 6th was signing $20 bills since it was a special day. Admission was also half price because it was his birthday. Would absolutely go again. Perfect place to get out and stretch the legs.
  • It is worth the trip if you are spending some time in Nashville to see this Historic Landmark. The former home of the seventh president of the United States. It is both interesting and educational to take a step back in time and see the way the former president once lived. It is odd however, after all these years that he seems to be openly celebrated as a hero, a great American, and a pretty cool "Master". Granted he was largely responsible for winning the War of 1812, but let us not forget he was a bloodthirsty Madman who committed genocide against Native Americans and he also owned over 80 slaves. Go for the history, but be ashamed that this poor excuse for a human being was once the president of our country. Also be advised if you are in a wheelchair the Mansion is 2 stories. Wheelchair access to the second floor is understandably impossible, but we were told in a phone conversation before our arrival that photographs of the second floor would be provided to anyone in our group unable to negotiate stairs. This ended up not being the case. There were no photographs of upstairs. And I was also told I could not record upstairs to share with a member of my party who is a wheelchair user. I am sure Andy J would be proud, after all he was all about intolerance and exclusion. Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill please!!
  • Must see place. Great history. Unbelievable staff. Can spend hours on the grounds in good weather. Well worth it. Great gift shop, food court on site decent prices.
  • The Hermitage is the "must see" historic site in the Nashville area. There is a lot to see in the exhibits and on the grounds. The video is the best place to start to get some highlights of this amazing life and struggle. See the brilliant defense of New Orleans. See how presidential politics was brutal back then too. See real cotton growing or ready for harvest. Get a reality check on the real meaning of slavery - owning fellow humans. There is a great tour of the house. Plan on 2 to 4 hours.
