Empire State Building, New York City

The 103-story Empire State Building in midtown stood as the world's tallest building for nearly four decades, from its completion in 1931 until 1970, when it was surpassed by another New York skyscraper. Considered an American cultural icon, the building underwent a massive renovation in 2010 to make it more energy efficient and eco-friendly. Admire the Art Deco mosaics in the lobby, and then take an elevator to the observation deck at the top, where you'll have 360-degree views of the entire city. If you don't have time to wait in line for the top, visit the 86th-floor observatory, which at 320 m (1,050 ft) high still provides remarkable views. If you're in the city in the evening, try to catch a glimpse of the building to see its pinnacle bathed in lights. • We come from China. I think the Empire State Building is spectacular! A segment of a chinese-language film was shot on the top floor of the building. So, when I got to the top floor, I felt like I was...  more »

  • After coming down on a crystal clear night - after seeing everything that anyone can imagine seeing, I guess that I had a really glowing expression, because one of the tour guides told me that it looks like that "I am feeling no pain". And he was completely, totally, absolutely right!! I also recommend the lobby restaurant called the State Grill and Bar. Great drinks, gigantic New York Sirloins and a beautiful Art Deco atmosphere. This also gives you the additional privilege of wondering all around the entire lobby floor. The sites are incredible, the multicolored marble walls and floors, the 24 karat gold ceilings, the gigantic mural of the Empire State Building broadcasting out to the world, and the amazing bridges three levels above connecting one upper hallway to another.
  • Such an iconic building with great view over the city. There was no line at all during our visit (evening around 7:30pm). We could just walk right up to the ticket booth, didn't have to wait for or share the elevator. The view was breathtaking, there was enough room to take pictures, there were only a few people on the roof. The view is totally different compared to daytime (and from Top of the Rock). Would definitely recommend to visit it twice (day and night) if you can afford it!
  • A great experience in an iconic city. We went to the 86th floor on a very windy day and got amazing views as you can expect. All staff very friendly and lots of security on which I find important in modern day times. A must when you visit. As a tip though, between the 2 I would choose Top Of The Rock as more impressive views in my opinion but both worth doing!
  • Beautiful experience going to the top at Floor 86. Sure you can pay another 20$ to go to Floor 102 but I'm telling you that the point of view at 86 is great. The building is really beautiful from the lobby, floor 80 where all the history items are, and floor 86. Staff were nice and helpful getting us corralled from place to place. Come at night!!
  • Wow such good service! I'm from Sweden and the view was amazing. My favorite part was the butterfly exhibit on top that showed the fossils of ancient dinosaurs. It's funny that many people don't like places such as this one. I never looked back on my first skydiving lesson, the thrill of the jump. once your nerves get past you and you jump, you can glide across the land in a magnificent array of light and estatic joy. 5/5 from me this was one of my most favorite restaurants in this area.
