I write from a keyboard neo-Yorker, without accents (I apologize for that reason). It is a Gothic-style church, but false, because that was built in the 19th century. The effect is accomplished, including stained glass. There is at the entrance to a security service that cached backpacks, but make it quick and just generates a small tail.

A great place to spend a quiet few minutes away from the madness of 5th avenue.... A gothic splendour in central Manhattan to rival the great European cathedrals  more »

Beautiful, beautiful. It feels like a slice of heaven. It is a show of work. You get ecstatic from the outside view and inside is a beauty

I enjoyed this place quite much. It doesn't matter whether you're a person of faith or not, or if you practice another religion, this Cathedral (and any other Catholic church) is open for everyone. The architecture is amazing. Personally I'm a roman Catholic, and I recommend a hundred times to visit this place.

Very interesting tourist destination. Mass is every hour on the hour and flows continuously. Tourist come in and out during mass taking photos of everything going on. The cathedral itself is so big they have to have flatscreen TVs in order to see the priest. Be prepared to have your bag searched by security in order to get in. Police are everywhere inside and outside the cathedral. Very crowded with many tourist visiting and it's almost impossible to get into the gift shop. There is a nice section in St. Patrick's where homeless people can stay to get out of cold and bad weather. St. Patrick's is definitely worth a visit for the "WOW" factor and any Catholic!

What an amazing building -- certainly one of the most beautiful churches in America. The architecture, the stained glass... gorgeous. It feels like being in one of the great cathedrals in Europe. And the church is very welcoming - greeters were happy to have tourists visit and walk around inside, even during a service. Easy to combine a visit to this landmark with any visit to Rockefeller Center. Don't miss it!

Gorgeous cathedral. If you visit New York, you have to check out this place. The interior of the cathedral is so beautiful. We came on a day when they had a ceremony and it was just beautiful.
