Baker Beach, San Francisco

4.7
#7 of 88 in Outdoors in San Francisco
While it remains too dangerous for swimming, Baker Beach is one of the best spots in the city to take in views of San Francisco's iconic bridge. This public beach stretches along the Pacific just northwest of the city, which makes it easily accessible by various modes of transportation. Keep in mind that the northernmost section of the beach tends to attract nudists. A visit to Baker Beach represents just the start of the adventure when you use our San Francisco trip planning app to plot your vacation.

  • Beautiful place, quiet beach with a magnificent view of the Golden Gate. There are public baths in perfect condition, but there is nothing to eat, take everything you need if you were to spend the day. The view of the sunset is wonderful.

  • We stopped here as we were passing through SF. We had never seen the Golden Gate Bridge in person so we wanted to see it before crossing it and this beach gives you an incredible view of it! But the b...  more »
  • You can see the bridge on the right side of you. The beach is beautiful. Lot of dogs not on a leash. There is also random areas with nude people so be on a alert with younger kids.  more »

  • Great view of the Golden Gate from Baker Beach. It is right above you. Great place for finding sea glass surprisingly. Dress warmly in layers, and bring a hat. It's very breezy on this area of the bay. Outstanding perspective of the Bay and Bridge. Very peaceful when I was there in February 2018.
  • Nice beach which gets busy in the warmer months (nudist area if you walk towards the bridge)! Most people come here for the amazing Golden Gate bridge views. Free parking makes it an even better spot!
  • I was able to see dolphins swimming which was quite a pleasant surprise. This place definitely provides one of the best views of Golden Gate bridge. Since its January and it was week day there was not much crowd. I will definitely come back to this place during summer time. Pictures came out really well.
  • The most beautiful seen of the golden gate bridge...you can get such good pic. Friends will think they are off Google..lol but the beach is very nice and the sand is great.. they also have a foot washing station but of course being ourselves we only found out about it after 30min. Of trying to clean the sand off our feet. It's on the right side of the building across the parking lot.
  • Very beautiful beach. Not crowded. Stunning view of the golden gate bridge. Was not aware at the other end of the beach was a nudist beach. Other than that, it was a really beautiful beach.
