Crissy Field, San Francisco

4.6
#8 of 56 in Parks in San Francisco
Enjoy the outdoors under a spectacular view of the Golden Gate Bridge at Crissy Field. Known as the Presidioโ€™s front door, the former air base-turned-into-a-park is a favorite recreational area for both locals and visitors. The area is clean, safe, and well maintained and is particularly popular with cyclists and joggers. If you want to relax, you can enjoy the sandy beach or go for a picnic. The kids enjoy wide-open areas to play, while the pet owners can take their dogs off the leash and let them splash in the surf. Bring sunglasses and layered clothes, because the San Francisco weather can be chilly and windy, even in the summer months.ย ย  Using our world travel planner, San Francisco attractions like Crissy Field can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’ž Beautiful and breathtaking views of the whole city and Marin County! Dog walking bike riding kite flying jogging running any kind of physical activity you can imagine takes place in Crissy Field. You can even fish and crab with proper permits it's a playground for locals and a wet dream for tourist. They offer indoor rock climbing their is a children's trampoline gym called house of air their is a Sports Basement sporting goods store that rents bikes and helmets their is a warming hut and a gift shop that sells food and drinks their is of course a promenade of historic buildings and a beautiful beach area but watch out their are restricted areas on the beach due to several migrating nesting birds one being the snowy plover.. It can get pretty chilly even on the sunniest of days so dress warm its a great spot for children and families alike. Never a dull moment!
  • It was a very windy day at the beach. However, the beach itself was very nice and clean. Well-maintained. There's a nice path to walk/jog/bike and many people took advantage of it. Beautiful views of the golden gate bridge from this beach. Had it not been windy, we would have probably spent some time looking at the para-sailers and enjoyed a picnic lunch at the conveniently placed picnic tables. Parking was easily available. No mad rush thankfully. Definitely a must visit spot.
  • Great location to stroll through. A few BBQ spots, stake your claim early. Some paid parking nearby. Some if he best views in the Bay Area I'd say.
  • I loved my time walking around this area. Lots of dogs running around, the beach is gorgeous. Saw a lot of people playing with this giant kite things which is a wonderful thing to watch. Very well maintained and we'll used park
  • It's a very nice place for family and dogs. The beach is also dog-friendly too. There are plenty of space for bikes and for picnicking. Parking is also easy around the area (street parking). Definitely a great place to visit and relax on a weekend (or weekday if you are so lucky that you can escape from work ;-)
