Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco

3.9
Encompassing the northern waterfront of San Francisco, Fisherman's Wharf ranks as one of the city's top tourist attractions, packed with souvenir shops and seafood restaurants. Nearly 12 million visitors flock to this neighborhood each year, drawn by its museums, galleries, historical buildings, piers, and scenic vistas over the San Francisco Bay. For over a century the area served as the headquarters of the city's fishing fleet, which numbered nearly 500 vessels. Though the fleet's numbers dwindled over time, the remaining boats continue to supply some of the city's finest restaurants with fresh seafood. You can enjoy views of the bay from any number of restaurants, but try to explore other attractions as well, like the maritime museum, chocolate factory, and the infamous Alcatraz Island. • You can walk eat drink and have fun with kids. All in one place. Kids can go to a mirror maze and a laser tag game and an arcade. A lot of places to eat outside so it’s very nice.  more »
  • Going to San Francisco is synonymous to Fisherman´s Wharf. Here can move all u day because they can walk, eat in different options, from a fresh crab to buy in a small market opposite the rudder that come at photography you, even in a restaurant as such Bubba Gump in the Pier 39, which I recommend 100%.

  • Plenty to do and plenty to see. Many of stores, restaurants, and activities to do! We went on a Monday morning so it wasn't too busy but people were already starting to cram the boardwalk. The boardwalk itself is nice to walk along. There are more then plenty of shops to shop from and plenty of museums to visit. Some exhibits are free and of course there's the museums where you have to pay. So be on the lookout! It does tend to get chilly so take a light sweater!
  • It's a great place to go in the San Francisco area. There's a lot to do, a lot to eat, and a lot of walking you shall prepare to do. It has great views and in general is likely unlike where most tourists are from. I'd definitely go back if it wasn't across the country for me.
  • Amazing place to visit when you're in SF. Walking along the pier and then the boardwalk. So many awesome shops and restaurants to choose from. Great time to walk is midday to nighttime. You can find a lot of souvenir shops!
  • Fisherman's Wharf is a fantastic place to visit when you are traveling in the City! There are so many cool places to sit and look at the views like Alcatraz, Angel Island, Golden Gate Bridge, Coit Tower, and on a clear day from Pier 43, you'll be able to see the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge. There's also lots to do when you get to Pier 39!! There are tons of shops here so you will find plenty of souvenirs for everybody. Definitely pay a visit to Ghiradelli Chocolates. It was founded here in San Francisco over 160 years ago. You will also have tons of sidewalk eateries including clam chowders and fresh crabs. If you prefer fine dining, you might want to try The Franciscan Crab Restaurant. It has been a part of Fisherman's Wharf since the 1950's! The first time we dined here was when I was eight years old with my parents. Lots of good memories. Lastly, One of the coolest part about Fisherman's Wharf in my humble opinion, are the street performers. They are so talented and truly, will inspire you. Until then, Cheers! ~ :p
  • Lots or shops and restaurants. The sea lions are really fun to watch.
