The White House, Washington DC

3.9
The simple name is doesn’t match the power that comes with The White House. This recognizable house serves as the home and workplace of the president of the United States. Originally completed in 1800, the building has housed every U.S. President. Its exterior showcases Neoclassical architectural style, including Greek columns and its signature white facade. The complex itself contains the presidential residence, the West and East Wings, and an executive office building. The Oval Office within the West Wing hosts many of the president's daily meetings and acts as the nerve center for the entire building. To tour the White House, you must arrange your visit through a Member of Congress. Tour reservations are extremely limited. Even if you can't go on a tour, be sure to walk by to see the exterior of this famous residence. • It's a timeless place to visit. Took away a star due to the uncontrolled foreign tourists, running screaming pushing in front of people for photos'. The Park Service needs to find a way to control thi...  more »

  • it was like in a movie.. we went there front and back.. make sure you have enought time in this area.. you'll never know what will happen. during our walk to the white house there was an alarm that everyone has to vacate the front area of the white house itself. nobody was allowed to pass until further notice, secret service and the police was able to clear the area in a matter of minutes.. and bring water with you since you have to walk around this beautiful place.. - including neighboring sites. .. cool experience
  • My boyfriend and I went and it was really nice. Bring some walking shoes. It is a lot of walking you'll have to do to really get the whole experience, but it's really a beautiful area. I have to say I was a little disappointed because in movies they exaggerate the appearance a bit, but all in all it is beautiful and worth a trip to see it.
  • It is the heart of our country and which it stands for, no matter who is living in it. It's history is amazing and must be preserved. It's a simple but elegant home showing all that visit that is not about the place but the people of our awesome country!
  • I think it's too far to really see what it look like. However, you do could see the whole view the White House with huge yard! It's really pretty though. But I expected that I could get the chance to be really close to it. Maybe just like the movie haha. For the security, so it's understandable.
  • We were able to go right in front of the White House fence before. This time it was well barricaded outside the fence further. You could still get good picture. I have posted some of those pictures.
