Feel the soft sand under your feet at Isla de Caja de Muertos, a quintessential Caribbean beach. Dive in the sea, and allow the serene ambiance and tropical vegetation surrounding the beach to make you feel completely disconnected from the outer world--after all, this island is completely uninhabited. When you visit this natural reserve, bring your own food and refreshments and make sure you don't leave any litter behind. • Beautiful small island off the coast of Ponce. You can take a ferry from La Guancha to this island. You will enjoy a beautiful beach with white sand but it does have a lot of rocks on the beach area also. When you come here, take the time to walk over to the abandoned Lighthouse. The view is amazing but I will be honest, the walk is about 30 to 45 minutes both ways. It depends on how fast you walk. Plus due to the weather, it's a bit difficult and you will sweat. Not much shaded areas so rent an umbrella. You can also take one of the benches but it's a small walk away from the beach area. For a small fee you can bring your own personal items. Like a small/mid size cooler with drinks, water, chips and dips, sandwiches and some fruits. To me the food on the ferry is not worth purchasing and spending money on. High price for hotdogs, french fries, fruit juice and water. After your day has ended, make a quick stop at the dock and hit La Guancha area for low prices on good meal with drinks.
