Mt. Britton Lookout Tower, Rio Grande

#5 of 14 in Things to do in Rio Grande
Observation Deck · Hidden Gem · Landmark
Take in the views of El Yunque rainforest from Mt. Britton Lookout Tower, which sits at an elevation of 941 m (3,088 ft). Take a short hike through the lush forest to reach the peak, where an observation tower offers panoramic views of the jungle below. On a clear day the views stretch as far as the eye can see, but cloudy weather can limit visibility. Wear appropriate footwear and take care on the sometimes slippery, though paved paths. Take a break from your hike at one of the rest stations located along the pathway. Put Mt. Britton Lookout Tower and other Rio Grande attractions into our Rio Grande route planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Great walk up to view. Rain expected, clouds can hamper view. Good workout, shoes clean after hike thanks to concrete path. Careful to park in designated areas, or you will get a ticket.
  • Great view. Stairwell path up rather narrow. Prevents two way traffic with larger fellows or people with hike packs.
