Create an itinerary including Mt. Britton Lookout Tower
Take in the views of El Yunque rainforest from Mt. Britton Lookout Tower, which sits at an elevation of 941 m (3,088 ft). Take a short hike through the lush forest to reach the peak, where an observation tower offers panoramic views of the jungle below. On a clear day the views stretch as far as the eye can see, but cloudy weather can limit visibility. Wear appropriate footwear and take care on the sometimes slippery, though paved paths. Take a break from your hike at one of the rest stations located along the pathway. Put Mt. Britton Lookout Tower and other Rio Grande attractions into our Rio Grande route planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • I was a little apprehensive as I have issues with my knees, but i refuse to give in. Hike is moderate to difficult, but there are areas to stop along the way if needed. You can always just step off...

  • I strongly suggest huffing out the hike up to the tower while visiting. The view on a clear day from the top is beautiful!

  • Short hike to the tower. It's in the rain forest so of course no view but the clouds surrounding you and trying to get over the mountain. Got there through a warm downpour of large rain drops. Trail is maintained and allows for easy hiking up the faulty steep climb. We enjoyed the hike very much
  • Nice uphill hike. It is constantly going uphill and some parts are pretty steep so would not recommend if you are not used to walking. Paved with stone and asphalt. Hike time to Mt. Britton tower was only 20-30 min for us going at moderately fast pace and 45-50 min to get to El Yunque peak.
