Amarillo — 8 nights
Yellow Rose of Texas
Known as "The Yellow Rose of Texas," Amarillo was once a series of ranches.Explore Amarillo's surroundings by going to Devil's Rope and Route 66 Museum (in McLean), Canyon (Old West Stables, Palo Duro Canyon State Park, &more) and Lubbock (Buddy Holly Statue and West Texas Walk of Fame & National Ranching Heritage Center). There's still lots to do: wander the wide-open spaces of Cowgirls and Cowboys in the West, get engrossed in the history at Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, admire all the interesting features of Route 66, and learn about wildlife with up-close encounters at Amarillo Zoo.
