The City of Lights and Flowers

Home to nearly half of Alaska's population, the port city of Anchorage covers a staggering area of over 4,900 sq km (1,900 sq mi) surrounded by mountains.
Make the 1st (Thu) an awe-inspiring day at Chugach State Park. There's much more to do: see the world from above with Alpine Air Alaska, sample the tasty concoctions at Double Shovel Cider Company, get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour, and get great views at Beluga Point.

Fresno to Anchorage is an approximately 8-hour flight. You can also drive. The time zone changes from Pacific Standard Time to Alaska Standard Time, which is usually a -1 hour difference. In March, Anchorage is colder than Fresno - with highs of 34°F and lows of 18°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 1st (Thu) so you can catch the train to Denali National Park and Preserve.

Traveling by train from Anchorage to Denali National Park and Preserve takes 6 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Expect little chillier evenings in Denali National Park and Preserve when traveling from Anchorage in April, with lows around 26°F. You'll set off for home on the 4th (Sun).
