The Capital of the South

Georgia’s largest city and capital, Atlanta is a thriving metropolis anchored by its southern roots.
Step off the beaten path and head to Ebenezer Baptist Church of Atlanta and Carter Center. Change things up with these side-trips from Atlanta: Roswell (Bulloch Hall & Old Mill Park). Jackson, officially the City of Jackson, is the capital city and largest urban center of the U.S. state of Mississippi. Step off the beaten path and head to Windsor Ruins and Mississippi Civil Rights Museum. Venture out of the city with trips to Vicksburg (McRaven House, Anchuca Mansion, &more), The Natchez Trace Parkway (in Natchez) and First Presbyterian Church of Port Gibson (in Port Gibson). Next up on the itinerary: admire the landmark architecture of Old Capitol Museum, get a sense of history and politics at Mississippi State Capitol, steep yourself in history at Medgar Evers Home, and get engrossed in the history at Eudora Welty House and Garden.
