Great Smoky Mountains National Park — 9 nights

A Wondrous Diversity of Life
Great Smoky Mountains National Park contains some of the highest mountains east of the Mississippi River, but it's the ease of access that makes this national park the United States' most visited.Stumphouse Mountain Tunnel and Andrew Johnson National Historic Site will appeal to history buffs. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to The Ridges Golf Club and Bootleggers Distillery. Venture out of the city with trips to Cumberland Gap National Historical Park (in Middlesboro), Bays Mountain Park & Planetarium (in Kingsport) and Crane Creek Vineyards (in Young Harris). There's much more to do: contemplate the long history of Cradle of Forestry, relax and float downstream with Carolina Outfitters, take in the dramatic scenery at Abrams Falls Trail, and learn about winemaking at Wolf Mountain Vineyards & Winery.
