For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
On the 6th (Thu), stop by Isla Vida. Keep things going the next day: view the masterpieces at Siddhia Hutchinson Fine Art Gallery and then enjoy the sand and surf at Balneario Sun Bay.

With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
Kick off your visit on the 9th (Sun): stroll through Playa Punta Soldado Beach and then stroll through Flamenco Beach. On your second day here, tour the pleasant surroundings at Tamarindo Beach and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Zoni Beach.

Get outdoors at El Yunque Rain Forest and Condado Beach. Visit Old San Juan and Depigment Art for their historical value.
