A small resort town with a year-round population of just 3,000, Provincetown draws nearly 60,000 annual visitors with its scenic beaches, art colonies, galleries, theaters, and shops.
You'll explore and learn at Pilgrim Monument & Provincetown Museum and Provincetown Town Hall. Get outdoors at Cape Cod National Seashore and Dolphin & Whale Watching. Change things up with these side-trips from Provincetown: Nauset Beach (in Orleans) and Captain Penniman House (in Eastham). There's much more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Race Point Beach, take in the waterfront at MacMillan Wharf, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Herring Cove Beach.

"The Capital of the Cape," Hyannis serves as Cape Cod's main transportation and commercial hub.
Kick off your visit on the 12th (Sat): visit a coastal fixture at Nobska Point Lighthouse, tour the pleasant surroundings at Shining Sea Bikeway, then examine the collection at Heritage Museums & Gardens, and finally steep yourself in history at Edward Gorey House. On the 13th (Sun), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: get engrossed in the history at Sandwich Glass Museum, contemplate the long history of Mayflower II, contemplate the long history of Plymouth Rock, then get engrossed in the history at Plimoth Plantation, and finally identify plant and animal life at Sandwich Fish Hatchery.

Freedom Trail and Louisa May Alcott's Orchard House will appeal to history buffs. Take a break from the city and head to Dolphin & Whale Watching and Walden Pond State Reservation. Step out of Boston with an excursion to The House of the Seven Gables in Salem--about 42 minutes away.
