Paradise — 2 nights

Paradise is an unincorporated community in Whitefish Township, Chippewa County in the U.S. state of Michigan.Paradise is on the northeastern portion of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, on the western side of Whitefish Bay, Lake Superior, about 60mi by road from Sault Ste. Step out of Paradise with an excursion to Point Iroquois Lighthouse in Brimley--about 44 minutes away. The adventure continues: immerse yourself in nature at Tahquamenon Falls State Park, tour the pleasant surroundings at Whitefish Point Bird Observatory, get engrossed in the history at Whitefish Point Light, and contemplate the waterfront views at Tahquamenon Falls.

New York City to Paradise is an approximately 7-hour flight. You can also fly; or drive; or do a combination of bus and car. Traveling from New York City in September, things will get slightly colder in Paradise: highs are around 68°F and lows about 49°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 4th (Sun) so you can drive to Saint Ignace.

Saint Ignace — 3 nights

Saint Ignace, usually written as St. Get out of town with these interesting Saint Ignace side-trips: Oswald's Bear Ranch (in Newberry) and Sault Ste. Marie (Museum Ship Valley Camp & Soo Locks). There's much more to do: snap pictures at Mackinac Bridge, walk around Bridge View Park, take a leisurely stroll along Huron Boardwalk, and get great views at Castle Rock.

Traveling by car from Paradise to Saint Ignace takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and bus. In September in Saint Ignace, expect temperatures between 67°F during the day and 54°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 7th (Wed) early enough to catch the ferry to Mackinac Island.
