Monroe is the eighth-largest city in the U.S. Get some cultural insight at Frogmore Plantation and Windsor Ruins. Popular historic sites such as Historic District Shopping and Old Courthouse are in your itinerary. Explore Monroe's surroundings by going to Vicksburg (Biedenharn Coca-Cola Museum, Attic Gallery, & more), Grand Gulf Military State Park (in Port Gibson) and Kaffie-Frederick General Mercantile Store (in Natchitoches). Spend the 15th (Tue) exploring nature at Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge. There's still lots to do: admire the masterpieces at R.W. Norton Art Gallery, admire the natural beauty at Biedenharn Museum & Garden, look for gifts at Duck Commander, and get engrossed in the history at Poverty Point State Historic Site.

If you are flying in from Canada, the closest major airport is Monroe Regional Airport. Expect a daytime high around 34°C in May, and nighttime lows around 20°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 20th (Sun) to allow enough time to travel back home.
